John Rees gave the closing speech in the final session - on imperialism and revolution in the Arab world - at Saturday's Counterforum, which drew around 150 people to discuss the politics of resistance. John concluded with an appeal to attend the Cairo Conference, which I'm just a little bit excited about myself!
The final session also featured Egyptian student revolutionary Hannah Elsisi, rapper and activist Lowkey, and Counterfire's Joseph Daher. Topics earlier in the day included the role of mass protest, what kind of socialist organisation we need, Islamophobia, where the economy is going, and the working class today. All the talks were video recorded and will be shared on YouTube and Counterfire over the next few days.
