John Rees: 'student protests are a challenge to the rest of us'

"When they bring that bill to Parliament before Christmas, there will be a huge student response. I believe there will be a huge school student response because they have shown what they are made of. But it isn't good enough just to say what marvellous young people, how much I love the students or how much I love the school students.

Now their reaction is a challenge to us. The NUT - this is your school, this is your students, this is your livelihood, this is your jobs. Get out there on the streets. The college lecturers - it's fantastic that the national union has called a demonstration. Now build it."
