See below for two videos of yesterday's Newcastle May Day march, which involved around 400 people. It was followed by a rally and music in Exhibition Park.
I spoke at the rally - very hoarsely, after performing megaphone duties on the march - on behalf of Coalition of Resistance. It featured Unite regional secretary Karen Reay, local Labour MP Ian Mearns, Tyneside Stop the War's Roger Nettleship, and several speakers from unions and anti-cuts campaigns.
I also spoke at South Tyneside's May Day event (on Friday night) stressing May Day's internationalist tradition by talking about Palestine, which remains the epicentre of global politics.
