Mobilising for 26 March demo

The potentially huge anti-cuts demonstration on 26 March, called by TUC, is fast approaching (see the handy countdown timer in the top right of this blog!). Over 120 people have now booked seats on coaches - organised by Tyne and Wear Coalition of Resistance, also involving Gateshead Public Services Alliance and Unite - from Newcastle to London. Hundreds of trade unionists are travelling from Newcastle on a train booked by Northern TUC.

I expect there'll be many more still to book coach seats over the next 3 weeks. There are Coalition of Resistance stalls lined up to promote the demo more widely, including one in Newcastle city centre tomorrow which I'll be helping with. Mobilising for the demo is clearly tapping a growing mood.

For activists and supporters in London there's a Coalition of Resistance meeting on Monday to prepare for the demo, and to co-ordinate publicising it.

Monday 7 March
Room 3E, ULU, Malet St, WC1 E7HY
6.30-8.30pm

'In the last few weeks to the TUC’s demonstration in 26 March we need hundreds of people to help to make sure the demo is as big as possible. We will also need teams of volunteers on the day to help out.

The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the plans for the demo and the different skills that you all have to offer and how we can best utilise them!! We need all of you - from placard makers to designers, flyerers, banner makers and organisers!

Come with ideas about how we can build the demo and what we can do on the day.

For more info or if you can help out in the run up to or on the day please email coalitionofresistance@mail.com or phone 07872 481769.'
