Emergency demo in London: solidarity with the Egyptian people

STOP THE WAR EMERGENCY DEMONSTRATION
SATURDAY 5 FEBRUARY 2.30PM

Solidarity with the Egyptian people - End US/British/EU intervention in the Middle East
Assemble US Embassy, Grosvenor Square, W1A and march to Egyptian Embassy

'Events in Egypt are at a turning point. The movement has forced Mubarak to
announce his departure, but demonstrators are demanding he goes now.

Pro-Mubarak thugs are trying to create a strategy of tension. The next few days
are crucial to what happens and there have been calls for protests in support
of the movement on Saturday.

Stop the War has always been involved in solidarity work with the Middle East, as part of our opposition to the war on terror. We have held meetings and protests on Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen. What's happening in Egypt has huge implications for the whole region, and even further afield, including the major theatres of war in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan.

We are therefore calling an emergency demonstration this Saturday 5 February,
to assemble at the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square, London W1, at 2.30pm and from there go to the Egyptian embassy to join the daily protests.

The demonstration will call for an end to US/British/EU involvement in the
region, solidarity with the Egyptian people and freedom for the Middle East.

We appreciate there are many other events taking place but we are asking all
our supporters in London to spread the word and mobilise as much as they can.
London has a reputation as having a strong anti-war and pro Palestine movement. A demonstration in support of our Egyptian sisters and brothers can send astrong message of support.'
