The dim right wing

Charles Moore has written a somewhat unhinged article in the Torygraph, which basically says the Tories are not attacking Labour enough over the party's relationship with Unite. The Conservative frontbench may have lost all perspective in its vilification of the Labour-Unite link, but that's still too soft for an old true blue Thatcherite like Moore.

If that's not unsettling enough, check out the comments in the online version. These people make Moore look like a rock of sanity in a mad world. If I was penning a parody of a right-wing blog thread I couldn't match this level of paranoia, racism and silliness. Here is a sample:

The Taxpayer will be the main loser no matter which party wins the next election.

Cameron's stormtroopers are the UAF and we saw today how they turned violent again in Bolton. No right minded person should vote Conservative and for Cameron when he supports these thugs on our streets. Yes it is true the Cameron supports the UAF, now tell me how tough he will be on immigration and the spread of islam

These Unite leaders should be strung up for what almost amounts to anarchy or treason. They are completely power p*ss*d and are the type who would have difficuly finding such well paid jobs in any other industry.

WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN? on March 20, 2010 at 04:21 PM
One question for these MP's...
Why have you all allowed tens of thousands of children to be snatched from fathers in your evil secret family courts?
WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN?

It is about time the Conservatives learnt to hate Labour like most of the Telegraph readers do. For too long Cameron has shown his admiration of Blair and even said about 2 years ago that they would match Labour expenditure. If they had stuck rigidly to the arguement that the Government spends too much, immigration is too high and the Government is limiting our responsibilities and our liberties then their time would probably have come now.

Cameron is a socialist , introducing a bank tax the day after stellar gains in both lloyds and RBS - and a higher share price means tax payers will make a profit given time . I think the guy does not want to win the election.

If the Tories lose the election, as someone else has said, they are finished; Conservative voters, both traditional and aspirational, will never forgive them for wasting the best opportunity they've ever had to rid this country of such a fascist, totalitarian government. But perhaps a properly radical "conservative" party would rise from the ashes...that's if there's anything left of our once-great nation. I despair.

Let's hope the strikers find what they're looking for at the Job centres.

  1. The comments on right-wing newspaper sites are truly bizarre. But then, the content is, too...

I'm reminded of Billy Bragg's song "It says here" - "If this does not reflect your view, you should understand / That those who own the papers also own this land"
