What social science tells us about intervention in Libya

Stephen M Walt, professor of international relations at Harvard, has written an interesting summary of academic research on the history of foreign military interventions. It suggests the prospects aren't good for any liberal interventionists hoping air strikes on Libya will bring democracy, stability and freedom.
