Newcastle student occupation: 'come to general assembly to plan 9 December protests'

The mass protests co-inciding with the House of Commons debate and vote on tuition fees are less than 6 days away as I type this (see my countdown timer in the top right of this blog, courtesy of Counterfire editor Ady Cousins). What's happening here in Tyneside? This is from the Newcastle occupation group:

'At four o'clock on Sunday, at the Fine Arts lecture theatre of Newcastle University, the Newcastle occupants are holding a general assembly open to the public, to discuss what action needs to be taken in preparation for the 9th of December.

We have until then to fight this attack on education - the time to act is now.

Please pass this on to anyone interested. Stop the cuts, join the occupation, loads of stuff going on.'

General Assembly - Sunday 5 December, 4pm

Fine Arts Building, King's Walk, Newcastle University (the occupied building is next to Northern Stage theatre)
ALL WELCOME - open to the public

Check the Newcastle Occupation blog for more about the students' campaigning against cuts and higher fees.
