Rallies, marches and picnics are being organised across the country for 30 June in support of the strike by members of PCS and three education unions - NUT, ATL and UCU - over cuts to public sector pensions.
In Newcastle strikers and their supporters will meet at noon at Centre for Life, Times Square. The march will go to Grey's Monument for a rally at 1pm with speakers from striking unions plus Kevin Rowan, secretary of Northern TUC.
The march and rally are supported by a range of trade unions, anti-cuts organisations and other groups.
