Uniting the left and saving the world

These two local events (in Newcastle) may not quite achieve the aims implied in the headline, but they should at least be a step in the right direction.

Where Next after Copenhagen?

Star and Shadow, Newcastle
Wednesday 3 March, 7.30pm

Reel News return to the Star and Shadow to show their new film about social and environmental protests at the Copenhagen Climate Talks.

  1. Hi Alex,

Looks like an interesting meeting- Stephen Hall is a good bloke- who is involved with Tyne and Wear Left Unity?

  2. There were 60 at the public meeting last July which got it going, with 45 at September's big planning meeting. There's been several smaller meetings since then, and the TWLU network has been used to mobilise people for some activity, notably the current anti-BNP campaign in Jarrow. It's mostly non-aligned people, though quite a few have been members of left-wing groups in the past, with a few Greens, Labour and SWP at meetings.

This meeting is a chance to give things a lift, with people keen to learn from someone who's had a lot of success in coalition-building in their area.

  3. The TWLU meeting is on Tuesday 23 February
