It's partly explained by Labour's relative success in London, but it's nonethless interesting that such a left wing MP can achieve that result. Along with other Campaign Group MPs' results it really knocks on the head any daft ideas that Labour MPs need to disavow socialism to be seen as 'electable'.

Left-wing groups won't make any progress unless willing to put in sustained work all the year round - and be very patient. There's a genuine debate to be had about whether that's worth doing or not - perhaps it isn't the best use of time and resources. But what really ISN'T worth doing is half-baked short-term interventions in electoral politics.luna17https://www.blogger.com/profile/03754650933188634442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093114275469628673.post-64141956169609547812010-05-09T15:43:40.807+01:002010-05-09T15:43:40.807+01:00TUSC should have built around Dave Nellist, under ...TUSC should have built around Dave Nellist, under first past the post, you can only win with strong local candidates and a focus.

We need socialism more than every before but the socialists outside the Green Party and Respect, can't seem to act effectively.

Pleased also to see John McDonnell re-elected with a big majority, until we get PR, lets focus on a handful of strong candidates.Derek Wallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05462511891409913195noreply@blogger.com
